Introduction to Healthcare Reform

Welcome to our introduction to the healthcare reform debate. This page is under (maybe constant) construction. Please be patient as we strive to get it going and keep it updated. Our aim is to provide a simple site with 1) a glossary of key terms often confused or conflated (e.g. “single-payer” vs “Medicare” vs “Medicare-for-All” vs “public option”), 2) a comparison of the major reform proposals and candidates’ positions, 3) critical facts and figures, 4) explanations to refute some common myths, misrepresentations and misunderstandings, and 5) relevant LWV position statements and recent actions in support of healthcare reform, 6) aspects of reform in California that might set us apart, 7) recent news and opinion articles that caught our eye - though we don’t stand with or against their content, of course. Throughout we offer links to what we think are best current sources for more in-depth information.

2) How do the major national reform proposals compare and what are the candidates’/parties’ positions?

3) Critical facts and figures

4) Common myths, misrepresentations and misunderstandings
